PRESS RELEASE:  ANTIGO, WISCONSIN

Green Bay, Wisconsin (June 13, 2005)

The crew arrived into Langlade County fairgrounds Thursday night with hopes to have an adverse weekend of racing compared to the first two rounds.  Throughout the weekend we had some serious rainfall and a close call of tornado warnings and touch downs, just North of the track during the weekend.

SATURDAY’S RACE, ROUND #3;  CARBURATOR SPUTTERING!

By the time the race started, the track was in great shape.  “I started towards the back of the field and the truck was running good for the first couple of turns, then it seemed like the engine was starving itself of fuel, and it had an intermittent miss.  So I was struggling with problems from the beginning.  Even though I wasn’t as “healthy” as the rest of the field I still managed to salvage a 11th place finish.” Between races the crew cleaned out all fuel lines, both carburetors, fuel filters.  “My engine builder told me that I had dirt in my fuel system, I was surprised to see how much “stuff” was in my pre-filters at the carbs.”  We proceeded to clean it all out.

SUNDAY’S RACE, ROUND #4;  MORE MISSES, FLAT TIRE

The track was a little on the wet side from the late night showers.  And the track during practice was quite muddy, but nonetheless Josh needed to make sure his truck was in tip top shape for the race.  Practice went off without a hitch and the truck ran very strong.  “The Jetting adjustment was dead on and the truck ran great during the practice session.”  The truck was prepped for the race later in the day, by getting another bath and filling the truck up with PowerMist Racing Fuel.  “As I was driving up to the line, I noticed that the miss was back again – I even tried to “clear” out the engine by revving up the motor, but unfortunately It was still there – I was bummed right off the start.”  As the green flag flew, Josh struggled with his ill running truck yet again and tried to maintain a 10th place finish when he was passing Jim Kandell, he was washed up into the thicker mud, where a rock flew into the inside of the aluminum wheel and got wedged between the caliper and wheel creating a hole in the wheel and leaving the tire flat.  “I’ve never seen such a thing before, talk about a fluke deal that has happened – I can’t believe that this happened, sometimes I wonder if I’m being tested here, and why?  As I was struggling with an ill-running engine and a flat tire my temperatures were getting too hot, where as my Alternator wasn’t putting out enough juice for my electric fans to pull the heat out of the engine and coolers.  So I elected to pull off versus ruining an engine.  We have a couple of weeks to get this problem figured out and I’m going to look into everything an make sure that this doesn’t happen again.”

The 2005 CORR Lucas Oil Series will head to Crandon International Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin on June 25-26 in what will be rounds 5 and 6 of the 2005 CORR Lucas Oil Pro Series.
