They say the proof is in the pudding.  Throughout the 2002 race season and due to the full field inversion, Josh had an average starting position of 21st, and an average finishing position of 4th place.  Josh put in a sound performance during the 2002 year.  He had nine top 4 finishes out of 12 rounds.

In 2003 Josh was off to a great start being in the top 3 positions in the first 3 races but had bad luck all three races which put him as low as 12th in points.  After a cancelled round #4, Josh mounted up a hard charge to the top by capturing 2 wins, 4 seconds, and 2 fourth place finishes in the last eight rounds.  By doing so he claimed his second consecutive points championship.  To boot, in the last eight rounds Josh had an average starting position of 24th and an average finishing position of 2nd, now that’s driving!  While competing against as many as 107 other drivers, Josh was awarded as being the 2003 CORR Sportsman Precision Gear Driver of the Year.

Josh has been teammates with his cousin Ben O’Connell since 1999.  Ben won his first World Championship in 2001 and his first Points Championship in 2004, and took second in the points race in 2002.  At the age of 22, Josh decided to get behind the wheel.  With the guidance of 3 time World Champion Glen Mathews, and the support of his teammate Ben, Josh is now coming into his prime as a racecar driver.  He claimed his first World Championship and Points Championship in 2002.  In 2003, Josh successfully defended his titles to win both the World Championship race in Crandon, WI and the Points Championship.  For current Pro Lite race news please visit the News section.
